Oil paintings that capture the depth, movement, and light of the sea.
Bringing the Ocean to Canvas
Liv Deans is a Kiama-based oil painter capturing the ever-changing beauty of the sea. Through rich textures and dynamic brushwork, her seascapes bring the movement and energy of the ocean to life.

A Lifelong Love
of Art & The Ocean
Growing up in Kiama, I was always drawn to the ocean. My love for painting began early, inspired by my Pop Ross’ travel sketchbooks. I spent hours trying to copy his work, filling my own pages with watercolours and sketches. This was my introduction to art. It wasn’t until I was 11 that I discovered oil painting—the same medium my Pop used to capture the Australian landscape. From that moment, I knew this was how I wanted to express my connection to the ocean.
The Art of The Ocean
My work is about more than just painting water—it’s about capturing the energy, depth, and emotion of the ocean. Each seascape reflects a different 'face' of the sea, from calm, glassy dawns to stormy, rolling waves. After spending a year in the UK, I realised how lucky we are to have the ocean at our doorstep, and I wanted to create paintings that bring that same sense of awe and connection to those who see them.

Beyond the Studio
When I’m not painting, you’ll find me drinking coffee and out in the water—surfing, swimming, or just watching the way the light dances on the waves. I believe the best art comes from experience, and every time I step into the ocean, I take a little inspiration back to the canvas.

More Than Painting
Art isn’t just something I create—it’s something I love to share. As the owner of Kiama Art Workshops, I love to see others how to bring their own artistic visions to life. Whether it’s helping beginners find confidence with a brush or guiding experienced painters in new techniques, Kiama Art Workshops are a space to explore, experiment, and connect with creativity.
